Trigger Point Therapy is a technique in which trigger points are located and worked on to reduce the pain and "deactivate" the point. This technique is sometimes also called Myofascial Trigger Point Therapy. (Myo means muscle tissue, and fascia is the connective tissue in and around it.)
Deep Tissue Massage is aimed at the deeper muscle fibers and fascia, also called connective tissue. Deep Tissue Massage uses many of the same movements and techniques as Swedish Massage, but the pressure will generally be more intense. It is also a more focused type of massage, as the therapist works to release chronic muscle tension or "knots" (also known as "adhesions.")
Cupping Therapy is an ancient form of alternative medicine in which a therapist puts special cups on your skin to create suction. People get it for many purposes, including to help with pain, inflammation, blood flow, relaxation and well-being. The suction and negative pressure provided by cupping can loosen muscles, encourage blood flow, and sedate the nervous system (which makes it an excellent treatment for high blood pressure). Cupping is also used to relieve back and neck pains, stiff muscles, anxiety, fatigue, migraines, rheumatism, and even cellulite.
Prenatal Massage, also known as Pregnancy Massage, promotes relaxation, soothes nerves, and relieves strained back and leg muscles in expectant mothers. Prenatal Massage is especially beneficial in the second and third trimesters, when the extra weight in your belly puts a strain on your back.
